Create a Card for a Soldier

Stop by Bart's Beanery on Tuesdays beginning July 13th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm to make a card or write a letter for our men and women in war zones. Words from home are appreciated by our soldiers and REALLY make a difference.

Not only will you be making a soldier very happy but each child that makes a card or writes a letter will receive a FREE small icecream cone (one per customer).

These cards and letters will be sent in boxes through an ongoing program sponsored by WIN-TV called "Send Hometown Windsor to our Troops". Each month a package is sent to Windsor and Windsor related troops full of food, toiletries and needed items. For more information visit the WIN-TV website at www.win-tv.com

MARLON "MAGIC MAN" STARLING
to visit Bart's Drive In
"afternoon with The Champ"

June 19th
1-3:00pm

Spend an "afternoon with The Champ" on June 19th from
1-3:00pm as WBA and WBC World Welterweight Champion MARLON "MAGIC MAN" STARLING visits Bart's Drive In

Come down and meet the Champ in an informal setting to share stories, memories, pictures and of course an autograph

In 1987 he knocked out Mark Breland in the 11th round to win the WBA World Welterweight Title. In 1989, Starling went on to knock out Lloyd Honeyghan to win the WBC World Welterweight Championship.

Since his retirement in 1990, the Champ has devoted his life to working with disabled children and adults in the Hartford area. With boxing as his love, he also works with youth boxing programs teaching not only the fundamentals of the sport, but emphasizing the development of youths beyond sports

Hartford Courant June 6, 2010

A Top-Down Drive In Connecticut
Pick up your rental convertible and head to Bart's Drive-In Restaurant on the Farmington River in Windsor. Owned by Windsor Mayor Don Trinks, this 60-plus-year-old roadside wonder is the spot for burgers, shakes and fried fish with a view.

"Bart's is a nostalgic place," says Trinks, who owns two convertibles, a 1972 Pontiac and a 2001 Chrysler Sebring. "You order at the counter and can sit in your car to eat or find a bench and watch the boaters on the river. You can't beat the setting."

Cruise nights (informal gatherings of vintage and souped-up cars) are held twice weekly, and some folks enjoy an after-diner stroll on the Windsor Center River Trail, a mile-long paved loop near the restaurant. At Bart's, Trinks says, nobody will squeal on you if you indulge in a large order of curly fries.

"We're our own little Vegas," says Trinks. "What happens at Bart's, stays at Bart's."
